Gallagher injured
Injury has forced the Wellington and All Black fullback, John Gallagher, from the Marist XV to meet the Canterbury invitation XV in their floodlit rugby match at Rugby Park tomorrow evening. Gallagher however, will still attend the festival match as a’guest of the Marist club, and he will be present along with four other All Blacks at a clinic for young rugby players at Rugby Park on Sunday morning.
Gallagher’s place has gone to one of the Canterbury heroes of the Ranfurly Shield reign f between 1983 and 1985, Robbie Deans’. Another latecomer to the team for perhaps half the match is Rhys Dacre, a member of the New Zealand four-man bobsleigh team at the recent Winter Olympics in Calgary. Dacre, a former national sprint champion, has also played American football.
