Earthy m usic from Soul on Ice in variety show
The sect nd instalment of “With a Bucket on your Head” screens tonight at 7.30 on Two. In tonight’s line-up are Rod Rick the Wacky Wizard, the Hands-up Puppets, Cara | Pewhairangi, escapologist P. C. with Taste of Hdney, Cascades, Ritchie Piqkett, the Sidebusters, ana some earthy music from Soul on Ice. Based in Auckland, Soul on Ice have been evolving their style for about three years. After earlier work with
a brass backing section and: a percussionist, the group now consists of Levi Paul on lead guitar, Glen Peters on bass, Malcolm Smith on keyboards, Dave Larsen on drums and, since July last year, a new female vocalist by the name of Aishah. Previously a session singer, Aishah, 23, was seen last year on Telequest as a soloist, and was recommended to the group by Ray Columbus. Glen Peters says that • Aishah has brought the
finishing touch to the group, and her presence has brought real results, as I Soul on Ice are on the verge of a five-year, fivealbum recording contract with C. 8.5., starting with the soon-to-be-released single “Sensation.” The group clocked up a variety of performances last year, including a support appearance for The Pretenders, the i Auckland Greenpeace Concert, and a 'TV performance on an “RTR Countdown” special.
