Stewart Fountain renovation
A bubble fountain jet ringed by six smaller bubble jets is the chosen design for the renovated Stewart Fountain.
The jets will replace the existing aluminium sculpture which has had continuing maintenance problems.
The donor of the original fountain, Sir Robertson Stewart, supports the new design, approved yesterday by the Christchurch City Council’s works and traffic committee.
The design, by the City Architect, shows a spray height of 1.1 metres for the larger jets and 450 mm for the smaller jets. The triangular shape of the High Street fountain will be retained.
