Youth tied and robbed friend
PA Auckland An youth, aged j 19, tied up and robbed a friend at knifepoint, the High Court at Auckland heard. Robert | Murray Millward, aged 18,| unemployed, of Beachhaven, was sentenced 1 to 12 months periodic! detention. Millward admitted, in the North Shorel District Court, aggravated) robbery and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle at) Birkenhead on December 18. With two 16-year-old alleged co-offenders he planned the robbery on the house of a: former schoolmate. They tied up the com-
plainant, aged 16, at knifepoint and robbed him of two television sets, an antique shotgun and pistol, a video and other items, and cash. Mr Justice Hillyer said it was not only a violent and premeditated robbery, but abused the trust that should be between friends. But if Millward went to prison now, he would be doomed. The work at the periodic detention centre might be hard and he might get blisters on his hands. “But each time you do, you should think, ’Aren’t I lucky I ’m not rotting in jail’,” said his Honour.
