Dispute strands 15 ships
NZPA-Reuter Washington As many as 15 ships are stranded outside the Panama Canal because the reput lie is demanding cash rather than cheques for dock services such as refuelling, food and water, A.B.C. News said. It said that although the United States still , controls the canal, Panama controls the docks that sell fuel and provisions to them Buy now that Panamanian banks are closed by a cut-off of United Stated cash, the Government] is no longer accepting cheques many ships routinely use to pay for the services, A.B.C. said.
