Winds creating fire hazard on West Coast
Greymouth reporter Buffeting, drying south-easterly winds are creating a bush fire hazard lon the West Coast. The fire officer of the Department of Conservation, Mr Ray Kingi, said yesterday that the danger: level was still only moderate, but the strong winds, accompanied by temperatures in the 20s, could create a serious problem by the weekend. The winds had moderated somewhat in the) Hokitika area, but were still strong in the Grey and Reefton areas.
