Canty dominates super saloons

Canterbury jtook a) commanding lead) in the first round of the K.T.C. interprovincial super saloon series at Woodford Glen on Saturday night. ? The series is) contested over three rounds at Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill, with teams of (four cars from each track competing. In the first of the tlt)ree 12lap heats, Otago put Gordon Kenton into the pole position and grid two' was held by Canterbury, with Doug Smith lining up. I : Kenton got the jump at the start but went to the infield allowing James Seaton (In-

vercargill) to lead. But he faltered and went off to the infield, allowing the four Canterbury cars through (Doug Smith took line honours, with Tony Cardwell, Colin Grey and Denis Bolt following behind and Seaton holding fifth place). Smith took a good lead from Seaton in the second heat and again the other Canterbury members came through to be handy to, the lead. Seaton spun off the track while under pressure from Cardwell and Grey. This allowed the Canterbury cars through to again hold the top

four positions. Bolt tangled with Graeme Hodge (Dunedin) which brought up the caution. Bolt restarted at the rear of the field. The final placings were changed when Grey was relegated. Stuart Little (Irivercargill) was credited with second place with Cardwell third and Norm Butler (Invercargill) fourth. Rain made the track very slushy for the third heat. Seaton was not going to make any mistakes in this heat and had a good win from Butler and Smith. The next round will be held in Invercargill on March 19,
