First area trials held at Riccarton

The first of the Guthrey's Travel area trials was held'at Riccarton race course last week-end with 16 A.l. riders and 29 D.C. riders. Annabel McCrostie on Craven A of Miltondale, won the D.C. section and finished on her dressage score of 16.25.

The second and third place-getters also finished on their dressage scores. They were Marie; Clapham on Cousin James, with a score of 20, and Just Doughy, ridden by Nigel Grigg for 22.5.

Jeanne Jarvis on Casper finished on I her dressage score of 24.5 to win the A.l. section. Kate Perkins and High Time dropped a rail in the show-jumping phase and finished on a score of 25. Very few riders had a faultless show-jumping phase, leaving Biddy Ritchie, from Blenheim, with her 7-y-o 16.2hh chestnut crossbred gelding, Joshua (by Bushlander), narrowly taking the lead from Zena Chart, from Amberley, and Mrs N.

Rutherford’s very consistent Live Rust, who dropped a rail in the second element of the double.
