American lawyer admitted to Bar
PA : Auckland i | An American! lawyer, ■ Mr Thomas j Gentithes, was last week admitted to the Bar in the High Court at Auckland after a dash from the airport following a 22-hour flight from New (York. "I was beginning to wonder whether I would Jmake the ceremony at all,” he said. ! Mr Gentithes practices in New York and Washington with the law offices of Joel Z. Robinson, which also has offices in England and New Zealand. ; He is, the firm’s first
New Zealand barrister and solicitor who is an American citizen. The firm’s? two New Zealand citizens, Messrs Joel Z. Robinson and lan C. Carter, are permitted to practice American and New Zealand law. To be admitted to the New Zealand Bar has meant about three extra years of extra courses and examinations, but Mr Gentithes is happy with the result. ! “It meant J get to come to New Zealand more often,” he said.
