Points for Rattray
Kate Rattray, of Christchurch, earned two World Cup | ski-ing competition points by finishing fourteenth in an important slalom event held at Aspen, j Colorado. Rattray, who competed with I moderate success at the I Winter Olympics in Calgary, finished II seconds behind the winner but her time still earned two points. She is the I first New Zealand skier to win World Cup points for several years. The event was sponsored by a coffee company and Rattray was presented with two gold coffee beans afterwards, one for each point scored. She js in eighty-fifth place in over-all World Cup standings. In: an F.I.S. event at Steamboat Springs, Colorado?, Rattray won ‘the giant slalom ahead of two United States skiers. Juliet Satterthwaite, of Christchurch, was sixth. Rattray was |timed at 2:04.44 and Satterthwaite at 2:08.94. Both Rattray and Satterthwaite are expected to return home in the next few weeks.
