TV deal for rugby
Television New Zealand has sneaked in ahead of TV3 to secure exclusive rights to rugby coverage for three years. The agreement was finalised between the New Zealand Rugby Union and TVNZ yesterday and was announced jointly by the chairman of the commercial committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, Mr Ron Don, and the director-general of TVNZ, Mr Julian Mounter. The deal includes live coverage of all test matches during the next three years. These are the Welsh . series this, year, matches against France and Argentina in 1989, and against Rumania and Australia in 1990. Television New Zealand also has exclusive rights to market rugby abroad for three years.
