Maths seminar
About 250 primary school mathematics teachers and parents will attend a mathematics seminar at Christchurch Teachers’ College tomorrow.
Speakers at the seminar will include Mrs Joan Paske, a primary’ school mathematics adviser and immediate past president: of the New Zealand Educational Institute, and Mr Choon Tan, a private mathematics tutor.
Mrs Paske will give the keynote address from 9 a.m. to 9.30 a.m., and at 11,30 a.m. will speak oh mathematics for Standard
1 pupils. Mr Tan will speak on “Success through motivation” both for pupils who need remedial help, add those requiring more challenging work. His address will also be at ll.<lo a.m.
■Mr Barry Brooker, president of the Primary Schools Maths Group which organised the seminar, said he was pleased that many parents would attend the seminar. More parents or other interested people could still enrol at Teachers: College tomorrow at 8.30 a.m., he said.
