Canty bowlers chosen
The Canterbury bowls selectors have chosen their, team of 12 for the inter-centre tournament at Blenheim at the week-end. The opposition teams will be from Wellington, Nelson and Marlborough. Wellington is traditionally the strong team at the tournament, but Canterbury bowlers have had a good, year — in spite of their failure at the recent Rothmans zone final — and three players who won national titles this year, Brian McGowan, Jack Dale and Gavin Good, are in the Canterbury (lineup. The Canterbury team is: Stewart Buttar, McGowan, Dale (skip); Robin Milne, Colin Lowery, Bob Patterson (skip); Chris Bullock, Alan Griffin, Neville Poole (skip);’ Errol Woodward, Good, Ken Watson (skip). Also at the week-end, the Canterbury champion of Champions colts singles title will be decided with the [South Brighton club holding the final games on Sunday. • Inside sport—Page 21
