One of Riccarton’s most successful combinations, that of trainer i Garth Jackson and rider Chris Johnson, had a memorable day at the Riccarton Turf Club’s meeting yesterday, wrapping up the main double wityi Dancer’s Rhythm and impound after earlier havirig scored with Romantic Beauty. i j j Dancer’s Rhythm wqn the Majestic Floats Handicap after settling midfield on the outer and beating the favourite, Spangles, 1 I
for a rails gap 250 m out., Tte Double Nearco filly; then battled on strongly to beat Silver Ribot by a; nose. i Dancer’s Rhythm is aimed at the remaining heats of the Wrightson ‘Southern Filly of the Year’ Series, at present dominated by Ultrd Sound. The next round is at Oamaru in the middle of this month followed by the Inglewood Stakes at Ashburton and the Warstep Stakes at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Easter
meeting. Silver Ribot fought gamely with Blake’s Folly a ! ' solid third. Spangles settled on the rails and had to change ground after failing to secure a rails run. She made ground late for sixth. Impound won the Simms Jones Handicap the hard way after being handy to the pace throughout. She had to r drag the field up to the ' tearaway pacemaker, c Silver Tussock, but then
kicked on to win convincingly from that runner with Mr Magoo making giant strides late for third. . Impound is owned by Blandford Lodge, which has had a most successful association with the Jackson stable. Romantic Beauty is another owned by the Stud, while Lady Blandford has also been a good winner in the south and Ruff, which won)first up at Riccarton \ last month, races at Trentham tomorrow for i the stable.
