Feast for fans
Sports fans in Christchurch on March 12 will be able to watch top-class rugby and cricket players in action on the same day, if the mood takes them. On the day of the second one-day cricket test between England and New Zealand at Lancaster Park, March 12, a New Zealand Marist ' rugby team will play a Canterbury invitation XV under lights at Rugby Park. The Marist side will be stiffened by the presence of at least five current All Blacks. They are John Gallagher and John Schuster (both of Wellington), Bernie McCahill (Auckland), Mike Brewer (Otago), and a former Glenmark and Canterbury prop, Richard Loe (Waikato). All these players have accepted invitations to play, and the organisers are awaiting word from the All Black lock from Wairarapa-Bush. Brent Anderson, on his availability. Three other All Blacks, Albert Anderson, John Mills, and Graham Bachop, are in the rival side, which was announced yesterday by the Canterbury selector, Mr Doug Bruce. The team is.— Mike Connell, Mark Vincent, Michael Lake, David Ellis, Shayne Philpott, Stephen and Graham Bachop; John Cook, Mark Hudson, Craig Philpott, Anderson, Tony McDonald, Brent Hammersley, Mills, Brent Harvey.
