The Committee sincerely regrets this temporary closure which has been necessitated by industrial action currently in operation at these stations. If the stations were not closed, it is the Committee’s belief that severe congestion would rapidly occur, the pit areas would be quickly filled and the station gates would have to be closed, without notice, so causing greater inconvenience to the public. At this time it is expected that all three stations will open again on Monday, P. W. CHAPPLE, Secretary, Christchurch Metropolitan Refuse Disposal Committee.
