Box 11, Otorohanga, will be received at its office prior to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 1988, for the position of Water Supply Engineer. The applicants should hold a N.Z. Certificate of Engineering and preferably have two or more years experience in water supply engineering since gaining the qualification. The appointee will be primarily responsible for the investigation, design, construction and maintenance of new and existing rural water supplies. He/she will be responsible to the Chief Engineer. Otorohanga District is located some 50 kilometres south of Hamilton. Comprising an area of 1976 square kilometres the District is in an expanding dairy area with horticulture becoming more in evidence. Three existing supplies cover 14,000 ha and another area of 3500 ha awaits design and subsidy approval. Other areas in the district have shown interest in supplies. The Council offices are situated in the Community of Otorohanga which has a population of about 3000. The town has good shopping facilities, three modern primary schools and a college, good medical facilities, and caters for a wide range of sporting activities. The nearest General Hospital is at Te Kuiti, approximately 20km south of Otorohanga. A commencing salary based on qualifications and experience will be negotiated with the appointee.
