NZPA Calgary Most members of the New Zealand Olympic contingent have finished their pre-event training and will now start a week of intensive competition. The two-man bobsleigh teams of Lex Peterson and Peter Henry and the reserve team of Owen Pinnell and Blair Telford finished five days of official practice runs yesterday afternoon and will wait until the draw for the competition is made this
morning. It is now likelv that the second bobsleigh team will be allowed to compete in the actual two-day competion this week-end after providing satisfactory results in recent days. The three alpine skiers of Simon Wi Rutene, Mattias Hubrich and Kate Rattray will begin official training for Monday’s Super-G event. They spent most of yesterday at Nakiska training on the course. The coach, Sepp Brunner, said he was pleased with the trio in training and was confi-
dent that they would be able to produce good results. The cross-country skier, Madonna Harris, opted for only a light work-out yesterday giving herself time to recover from the severe bruising she received two days ago when she fell heavily in training at Canmore Nordic centre, 110 km north of Calgary. Most of the New Zealand team took a break last evening and attended either the hockey match between Canada and Finland or the men’s figure skating finals.
