Karamea agency
Karamea’s hardware store will become a full postal agency on Monday. New Zealand Post’s Nelson district manager, Mr John Christie, announced yesterday that agreement had been reached with Mr Bill Heath, who runs the store.
The announcement comes after 13 days of occupation of the closed post office building by a group of nine protesters. “Customers will be able to buy stamps, post parcels and letters, and make payments for motor registration, road-user charges and television licensing,” said Mr Christie.
New Zealand Post had intended to set up the agency on February 8, but had delayed it because of the protest, he said.
