Cooper double hat-trick
Shane Cooper, the New Zealand rugby league stand-off half, equalled the try-scoring record of his British club, St Helens, when he touched down six times-against Hull yesterday.
He emulated the feats of the 1932 British wing, Alf Ellaby, Stan Llewellyn, who twice scored six tries in 1956, the former Springbok, Tom Van Vollenhoven (1957 and 1962), and Frank Myler (1969), who both captained and coached British touring teams.
Captained by Cooper, St Helens overran Hull, 64-2, after leading by 42-2 at half-time.
