Strong work from Tilbury Docks
Special correspondent Woodville Tilbury Docks worked strongly at Woodville yesterday morning, looking fit for tomorrow’s Pharmacy Handicap at the Woodville-Pahiatua meeting. Trainer, Murray Baker, had not confirmed a rider for Tilbury Docks, which has 58kg. An allowance would help his prospects. Tilbury Docks will not mind the expected soft track conditions, having been one of the stars last winter when he completed his campaign by finishing second, beaten by a nose, in the Winter Cup. Gallops took place on the extreme outside of the course proper, and on the inside grass, which were
soft. Tilbury Docks ran 1200 m on the course in Imin 23.35. He picked up Kate’s Myth approaching the 800 m and they finished the gallop strongly together. Kate’s Myth is ready for a big run in the Matamata Breeders’ Stakes tomorrow. Uncomplicated is also heading for Matamata. He went with Desert Knight over 1000 m in lmin 6.95, the last 600 m in 395. Uncomplicated has sound form for the opening event, and Noel Harris rides him. Desert Knight is in the Hewin Williams Handicap at Woodville, and is an outside chance. Hibiscay seemed to handle the conditions better than Bard when they
ran 1000 m in lmin 5.45, the last 600 m in 395. Charade and Waiamaco ran 1000 m in lmin 8.95, but no sectional times were taken. Charade is racing solidly and is another in the Williams Handicap. Pebble Mill and Silent Fury took 53.9 s for 800 m, the last 600 m in 39.65. Pebble Mill is an English Harbour filly with Scott Hammersley, while Silent Fury is a March Legend gelding. Both make their debut in the Weber Maiden No. 2 and may show up. Fountaincourt and Levate went 800 m taking 42.2 s for the last 600 m. Levate showed much promise in winning her Woodville debut last month, but is an unknown
quantity on soft tracks. She lines up in the Maroondah Stud Handicap and should be respected. Haven Bay and All Spirit went 1000 m in lmin 5.65, the last 600 m in 39.15. Haven Bay makes his debut in the Weber No. 2, while All Spirit, a promising fourth in her debut last week, is another mount for Noel Harris in the Barclays Maiden at Matamata. Mister Aythorpe is not starting in the Woodville Pharmacy Handicap and Murray Baker has already scratched Galaxy Star in the Maroondah Handicap. The Spooler has not done as well as trainer John Sargent had hoped since her Foxton win and will have a spell. She was in the Stewards Handicap.
