NZPA-Reuter Calgary Yugoslav Bojan Krizaj, the reigning World Cup slalom champion, yesterday broke his leg during practice for next week’s Olympic alpine ski events, team-mate Rok Petrovic said. Petrovic said Krizaj had broken his right tibia when he skied off course and crashed into a tree during training at Mount Allan, the Games’ alpine ski-ing venue.

Krizaj was taken to hospital in Calgary and his leg put in a cast before he was released, Petrovic said. Krizaj finished a disap-, pointed seventh in the slalom and ninth in the giant slalom at the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics and, at the age of 31, had hoped to crown his career with an Olympic title in Calgary. “It’s bad luck for him, fellow slalom specialist, Petrovic, said.
