Police warn of man’s activities

The Christchurch police are warning the public about the activities of a man who approached two schoolgirls in North New Brighton last Friday. The man followed to Form II girls, from the intersection of Marriotts Road and Bowhill Road, to the gates of North New Brighton Primary School, about 8.30 a.m.

He stayed a few metres behind them until they got to the school, when he touched one on the shoulder and told her she had “nice legs.”

A “minor” conversation then took place, but

nothing of an indecent nature, said Detective Senior-Sergeant Mike Muddiman. The police were publicising the incident, however, in case the man had been involved in other similar approaches. He was described as Caucasian, aged 35 to 40, of medium build and about 180 cm tall. He had straight, black, collarlength hair, possibly balding on top, and a black, bushy moustache. He was tidily dressed in a black or dark blue suit with matching tie, and a white, high-col-lared shirt.
