British folk singer at State Trinity
Vin Garbutt will perform at the State Trinity Centre on Saturday, February 13, at 8 p.m. The British singer will be in Christchurch at the invitation of the Christchurch Folk and Acoustic Music Club. He has been to this country several times before. In 1986 he came to perform at the Canterbury Folk Festival but a road accident and three broken ribs prevented that.
Garbutt has become known through Britain, Australia and New Zealand for his style that combines “shaggy-dog” introductions with his songs. The content of the songs is often serious or political. The songs are his own and they draw from the traditions of folk and Irish music.
The support act for his Christchurch concert will be Neil MacLeod and Chris Aarons.
