Teachers criticised
Political reporter The Minister of State Services, Mr Rodger, has criticised primary school teachers for their plan to call rolling stoppages over the State Sector Bill. “Parents will be justifiably angry that so soon after a sixweek vacation teachers are knocking off work.” Teachers were on the wrong track if they thought that their case would be strengthened by sending pupils home, said Mr Rodger.
He said that the bill had lesfes„ impact on teachers than other groups, as it did not affect the day-to-day running of schools. “Reasoned submissions to the select committee will have a greater chance of influencing changes.” Mr Rodger said that he doubted whether teachers had any real understanding or knowledge of what was in the bill.
