Anderton cautious
The outspoken Sydenham Labour member of Parliament, Mr Jim Anderton, was cautious about Mr Douglas’s statement in reaction to the postponement of tax reform and preferred not to comment yesterday.
However, he said he “could not get excited” about the economic package deferred by the Prime Minister last week because it could be more than a year from implementation.
“We are talking about 1989 for those measures — so while we are fiddling with tax reform the economy is burning. “We should be tackling the problem of economic growth and job creation — the things that bring about social injustices — and not tax reform.”
