Fantastic Season wins for Vance

NZPA Hong Kong The New Zealand jockey, Bobby Vance, has not enjoyed a “fantastic season” in Hong Kong this year. But he rode Fantastic Season (8-1) to a threelength win over Toy Prince (6-1) and Cosmo Ray (20-1) in the class 3, 1400 m final race at the Sha Tin track on Saturday. “If you have to go out there is nothing like doing it in style,” Vance said after the win. Fantastic Season paid SNZI6 for the win and SNZ7 for a place. The Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club cancelled Vance’s contract with his trainer, Kenny Kam, last month. He was allowed to ride freelance until Saturday’s meeting and the win on Fantastic Season was his sixth win from 78 rides. “The season has been disappointing, but I hope the Jockey Club will give me another licence if the possibility of a retainer with another trainer came along ... “I don’t know what the future holds for me at present. I have enjoyed racing here and I am hopeful we, can work something out for the future.” Vance said he secured the ride on Fantastic Season after a case of mistaken identity. “I got the horse mixed up with another chestnut, a horse called Fast Saloon. The word must have got back that I said Fantastic Season was a good horse and the next thing I knew I was down to ricSfe him,” said Vaneo.
