Peter Lynn faultless

Ashburton reporter Peter Lynn gave a faultless performance when taken to the Ashburton trials yesterday. The Sholty Imp gelding, which was stood down until trialling twice to the satisfaction of the stipendiary stewards after breaking during the running on the first night of the Forbury meeting last Saturday, began well from 10m in the Cl and faster pace yesterday. Settling fourth after 800 m, trainer-reinsman Robert Cameron moved Peter Lynn off the fence 1000 m out and allowed the horse to cruise home a neck clear of Nat’s Girl in an unspectacular 3:12.7 for the 2400 m. My Dalrae took the maiden mobile pace in 3:7.5, after the field covered the first mile in 2:3.4, and Loveridge produced a top run from well back to win the Cl and faster mobile in 3:5.4, with the last 800 metres in 59.2, 0.2 s faster than the last 800 m for Peter Lynn.
