Firearm charges denied
Rangiora reporter A Waipara minister of religion, Douglas Alexander Metcalf, aged 67, pleaded not guilty to six charges of unlawful possession of firearms when he appeared before Judge Noble in the District Court in Rangiora yesterday. Metcalf was remanded
at large to April 13 for a defended hearing. Metcalf is charged with the unlawful possession of a Brno .38 calibre revolver, a .32 calibre pistol, an H. and R. revolver, a .25 calibre pistol, a .22 calibre six-shot converted revolver, and a .22 calibre home-made single shot rifle.
