Sir,—l feel that J. F. Garvey (January 25) is rather harsh in his judgment of Mr Bill Woods. Whether or not Mr Woods had foreknowledge of the scheduled closings is beside the point. By protesting publicly as he has, Mr Woods has effectively burned his “Labour” boats. In any case, surely Mr Garvey does not think that the current batch of “Labour” financial gurus would even consider discussing their devastating policies with the hoipolloi of candidates; like children, they are expected to be seen, but not heard. I say that Mr Woods should keep up the good work, even though New Zealand’s “Gang of Four" will not take a blind bit of notice.
