Anglican parishes respond to plea
PA Auckland Parishes throughout Auckland have come to the aid of the city’s financially troubled Anglican Church. Their move comes after a plea for cash from the diocese’s finance advisory committee last month which warned of possible pay cuts and redundancies among priests. The memorandum call-
ing for the parishes to dig more deeply into their pockets put the projected budget deficit this year in the stipend and diocesan target at $476,000 altogether. So far about half the 76 parishes in Auckland had replied, the finance committee was told yesterday. The rest had still to arrange meetings of their vestries (church executive committees).
