School with no terms
Founded in the U.S.A, in 1890, ICS is the world’s oldest correspondence school. Nine million students worldwide, and more than 150,000 in New Zealand, have studied with International Correspondence Schools. What makes ICS unique is that it is the school with no terms. Students enrol at any time during the year and are allotted a set number of years to complete their course. They study at home, in their own time, at their own pace, to earn their Certificates or Diplomas. Because ICS was founded as an Industrial Training School, to provide education for working people, all courses are practically oriented. Study is easy for a student because ICS supplies all study materials, texts, manuals and stationery for students to use and keep. Art students receive full
painting kits, drafting students a complete drafting kit.
Students in the Home Personal Computer course actually receive their own personal computer through the mail to learn to program, use and keep. The enormously popular Professional Interior Design course includes materials such as fabrics swatches, model furniture, slides and cassettes plus a host of other art and study materials.
With over two hundred coures available ICS really do offer something for everyone. These range from Drivers Maintenance, Motor Servicing, Bookkeeping, Secretarial studies, NZIM courses including the Certificate in Supervision, Accounting, Small Business Owners and Hotel/Management, which is increasingly popular with the rapid growth of the New Zealand tourist industry.
An ICS Leisure course is a stimulating and profitable way of learning a new skill.
You can save money by learning how to sew clothes for your family (Dressmaking and Pattern Cutting) or delve into the fascinating world of Psychology. Floral Art, Home Furnishings, Interior Decorating, Beauty Care, Guitar and Bible Studies are just a few of the Leisure courses available.
ICS recognises the problems of living in today’s world. Building Confidence and Self Esteem is a popular course. Comments we have received from students indicate there is a real need for such a course in today’s society.
As for the future, ICS has some exciting new courses in the pipeline including Pet Care; Landscape Gardening and Cooking with Herbs.
