Mansdorf to head Israeli tennis team

NZPA-Reuter Tel Aviv Amos Mansdorf, ranked twentieth in the world, will spearhead Israel's challenge in the Davis cup world group first-round tennis tie against Italy in Palermo, Sicily, next month. The four-man Israeli squad is Mansdorf, Shlomo GlickStein, Gilad Bloom and Shachar Perkis.

Bloom, a 20-year-old soldier with little Davis Cup experience, is expected to be Israel’s second singles player against Italy and is likely to partner Perkis In the doubles. Glickstein, who has played 44 singles matches for his country in the Davis Cup in the past 12 years, is expected to be given the job of nonplaying captain against Italy.
