Fewer unemployed in Britain

NZPA-Reuter London The official number of unemployed people in Britain fell in December more than 35,000 to 2.6 million, its lowest, level since 1982, said the British Government.

That represents 9.4 per cent of Britain’s workforce. The November rate was 9.5 per cent. The Employment secretary, Norman Fowler, said it was the eighteenth successive monthly drop in unemployment.
