Green belt

Sir, —As an objector to the hotel zone on Memorial Avenue, I was impressed with Mrs V. F. Jobberns’ letter (January 23). What a pity thht she was not an official objector at the hearinglMost of the points she made were covered in the objections of myself and others, and rejected by the commissioner, but I was surprised that so few objected. It astounded me, in fact, that neither the Airways Corporation

nor the Airline Pilots’ Association was among the objectors and the submissions of the Airport Authority were transparently weak. Yet the very safety and efficiency of airport operations is at stake. For the sort of developments proposed by the Real Share Corporation will inevitably lead to noise complaints, etc, and demands for hazardous aircraft manoeuvres (e.g., tight turns on take-off), and ultimately nighttime curfews — sadly, the wellnoted pattern of events at so many busy airports! — Yours, etc., HAZEL TAIT.
