‘Israeli beatings’
NZPA-Reuter Ramallah, West Bank Heavy rain washed away the blood yesterday but two red stains remained on a wall in the centre of Ramallah, an Israeli-occupied West Bank town where residents said they saw soldiers brutally beating Palestinians. At the Ramallah hos-
pital, doctors said four Arabs were released after treatment for beatings. Two others wounded by Israeli gunfire yesterday were still lying there. Hospital staff said they had treated between 20 and 30 Palestinians whose wrists and arms had been broken in the last few days. The patients said soldiers had assaulted them.
