Pay rise for police
Political reporter
Police and health service workers will receive a 7 per cent pay increase, back-dated to November 10 last year. The Cabinet yesterday approved the increase, which was similar to that settled last year for Public Service and parliamentary service employees.
"The increase will apply to nearly 30,000 staff in the health service and to about 5000 police,” said the Minister of State Services, Mr Rodger. “As part of the settlement health service organisations had agreed to continue to rationalise bargaining structures,” he said.
