Carter, Keegan win pairs title
Gwen Carter (Fendalton) beat Margaret Broad (Morrison Avenue) 24-10 to win the Christchurch Women’s Bowling Centre’s champion - of - champions pairs title at the Christchurch-Richmond Bowling Club yesterday. Although it became a one-sided match in the later stages. Broad started well and after five ends was 6-2 ahead, but Carter steadily fought her way to the lead and the match finished after 20 of the 21 scheduled ends. Carter’s lead was Alison Keegan, and the lead for Broad was Joan Peat. Both teams had comfortable wins in the semifinals.
Results of yesterday’s games were: Quarter-finals: G. Carter (Fendalton) 17, S. Smith (Rangiora) 15; J. Simpson (Hoon Hay) 18, K. Williamson (Mt Pleasant) 15; J. Papps (Sumner) 20, A. Geeves (Shaw Avenue) 13; M. Broad (Morrison Avenue) 23, M. Quinton (West Melton) 10. Semi-finals: Carter 25, Simpson 15; Broad 28, Papps 9. Final: Carter 24, Broad 10.
