Pilot changes jobs
PA Blenheim The Marlborough Harbour Board pilot and deputy Harbour Master, Captain Gary Neill, has accepted a position with the New Plymouth Harbour Board. Captain Neill took over the position of pilot when the Harbour Master, Captain Don Jamison, surrendered his licence after the loss of the Russian cruise
liner Mikhail Lermontov in the Marlborough Sounds in 1986. Captain Neill’s new position will be pilot and relieving tug master at New Plymouth and he will take up his duties on February 15. Until a new Marlborough pilot is appointed, piloting duties will be contracted to other licensed masters.
