Indecencies held proved
A former youth leader was found guilty yesterday of 10 charges of indecent assault after a fourday trial in the District Court.
The jury of eight women and four men deliberated for five hours before unanimously finding Dougal John Crossan, aged 35, a mechanic, guilty of 10 charges of
indecent assault on boys aged under 12 and under 16. The charges covered 12 years until last year. The jury found Crossan not guilty of four other charges of indecent assault.
Crossan, who appeared before Judge Erber, was remanded in custody for sentence on February 2 in the District Court. Judge
Erber also called for a probation report and a victim impact report on the boys assaulted. The Crown was represented by Mr D. J. L. Saunders.
Crossan was represented by Mr S. C. Barker, but gave evidence on his own behalf on the third day of the trial last Friday.
