Today is picnic day for Lyttelton Harbour Board employees and watersiders.
This is an additional statutory holiday for the port’s workers, and it is written into their industrial award. Harbour Board staff will hold their picnic at Spencer Park. It is organised by the social club committee. The sports programme will begin at 10.45 a.m., with events for children and adults. Local companies which regularly deal with the Harbour Board have given prizes.
