Father joins air search
PA Timaru An aerial search yesterday for three missing climbers at Mount Cook failed to turn up any sign of the men. The three — two Americans and a Briton — had not been seen since they set out on a climb of Mount Cook more than a week ago.
Three aerial searches last week also failed to locate the men and it is believed they have perished in an avalanche.
On the search yesterday was the father of one of the missing climbers, who flew out from America after being told that his son, Bob Harvey, of Idyllwila, California, was missing.
After arriving in Timaru late on Saturday night, Mr Harvey was taken to Mount Cook by Sergeant Dave Gaskin, of the Timaru police. The other climbers were Dave Harvey Tarrant, formerly of Britain, and lan Jay Watts, of Reno, Nevada.
