A 1926 grand prix-type 37A Bugatti is given a test drive on Christchurch streets by its owners, Bruce and Adrianne Pigeon. They have entered the sparkling Italian car in the Australian Bicentennial Castrol World Rally in March. The Bugatti is one of 50 New Zealand entries in the rally, open to pre-1931 veteran and vintage cars. About 1200 cars will compete, leaving from Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, and Sydney, and finally converging on Canberra. Mr and Mrs Pigeon will make their start in Adelaide. Mr Pigeon has spent the last 13 months preparing the Bugatti, which will be shipped to Australia on February 3. —Photograph by DEAN KOZANIC
