Forest fire risk high
A temperature of 30deg. at Eyrewell Forest yesterday forced the fire risk to high. Ashley, Balmoral and Hanmer Springs forests recorded fire risks of moderate.
People were warned to be extremely careful travelling into or near the forests. It was feared another day of high temperatures could force the fire risk to extreme.
