New Zealand players available?
What part Canterbury’s New Zealand representa-' tives, Richard Hadlee and John Wright, play in the national Shell Trophy cricket competition will be ascertained in the next day or two. The New Zealand squad returns home this even-
ing, completing a test and limited-over itinerary which began in midNovember. Reports from Australia have emphasised the tiredness felt by many of the players. Canterbury’s next match after the New Zealand team’s return is
against Wellington at Wellington on Friday. Wright actually resides in Wellington, though qualifies for Canterbury because it is his province of birth. The only home game remaining on the trophy programme is with Cen-
tral Districts, starting on February 2. Canterbury officials would undoubtedly be keen to see a confrontation between two great fast-medium bowlers, Hadlee and Michael Holding, and a batsman of Martin Crowe’s renown.
