Mike Tyson to fight Tubbs
NZPA-Reuter Atlantic City Mike Tyson, who demolished Larry Holmes on Saturday to retain his undisputed world heavyweight boxing title, will next fight fellowAmerican Tony Tubbs in Tokyo on March 21, Tyson’s manager said yesterday. Tyson, showing scant regard for Tubbs, a former World Boxing Association champion, said after stopping Holmes in the fourth round: "I'm going to fight somebody in Tokyo.” A Japanese spokesman said the Tubbs fight would be in the Tokyo Dome, where he said he wanted to “show our Japanese hospitality.” The fight is part of the seven-fight 5U.5.26.5 million package Tyson recently signed with' an American cable television network. Bill Cayton, Tyson’s comanager, said he would try to sign Michael Spinks for a fight against the champion. But if that did not happen, Tyson would fight Britain’s Frank Bruno at Wembley Stadium in London. Flight report, page 21
