To date an appointment has been made for the Project Leader and the Council is seeking to fill two further vacancies as follows: REGIONAL TRANSPORT OFFICER (Transport planning) This position has been created to assist with GATS and its ongoing monitoring and review. The successful candidate will have a basic degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, geography, civil engineering or a related subject. An interest in transport planning is essential and full training will be provided. The position will involve working with a number of members of outside organisations and consultants. The main rsponsibillties of this position involve transport network development, data collection and computer modelling. A salary range of $26,500 to $34,500 is being offered. PLANNER Initially this position will contribute to the urban and related transportation aspects of the Council's regional planning programme. The successful applicant will have a qualification in urban or regional planning, geography or ecology. At least three years relevant experience and membership of an appropriate professional body would be an advantage. This planner will be woorking with a diverse range of people, including all sections of the Regional Council, its councillors and committee members, professional staff of local authorities and government departments and management personnel of private sector companies. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring the appropriate urban development (including social and environmental aspects) are provided for and integrated into any transportation study within the Region.
