Rhythmic Dancer set to play leading role

Special correspondent Gisborne The Rotorua filly, Rythmic Dancer, has not raced since winning at the Te Teko meeting in November, but she looks well placed to play the leading role in the Gisborne Herald Handicap on the opening day of the Poverty Bay Turf Club’s meeting tomorrow. Rythmic Dancer looked better than average when winning two of her six starts for Cambridge trainer, Vic Booth, last season. However, she was prepared for her latest success by Roger Waller at Rotorua and looks ideally placed to add to her record tomorrow. The Gisborne Herald Handicap is the second leg of both the T.A.B. treble and double and is also one of the T.A.B. trifecta races. Waller has Invite d’Honneur as a strong prospect in the Carrington Memorial, third leg of the treble and it is rare that he travels far from home

without some success. Laurie Laxon has had one of his best seasons ever through the deeds of Weston Lea and Empire Rose. He has long been a great supporter of East Coast racing and rarely without some good results. Laxon has the ruling favourite, Mi Tristena, in the Corsons Tyres Handicap, first leg of the double and Precision Plus will be a good chance in the second leg. Oakburn may prove Invite d’Honneur’s toughest opponent in the third leg of the treble. Mi Tristena was no match for stablemate, Empire Rose, in the Marton Cup, but she will be more at home in the first leg of tomorrow’s double. Misty Topaz will be a strong prospect in the Kerridge Odeon Highweight, although the topweight, Middleman, did not have much luck at Awapuni last week and he could be the one to keep a strong northern invasion at bay.
