Premium hikes threatened
British-based insurance companies are cooperating with the their Government’s anti-drink-drive campaign. According to Peter Bottomley, the Roads and Traffic Minister, convicted drivers could be confronted with double insurance premiums
when they regain their driving licences, or a complete refusal from companies to re-insure them and their cars. Young drivers of high performance cars convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol could face insurance premiums of $7500 a year.
