Redundancies?
Industrial reporter Redundancies at a big Christchurch company are expected to be announced today. Industry sources said yesterday that the announcement is believed to involve large numbers of workers. Such an announcement was not unexpected, said thb director
of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association, Mr lan Howell. “Employers and manufacturers would continue to expect more problems in the coming year,” he said. However, he said the one “bright spot” was the benefit from the falling inflation rate which, later in the year, could help to relieve the situation.
